| statement | Composing, to me, is about articulating sound. In daily life many sounds derive from pure coincidence, e.g. the sound itself is not the purpose. We don’t walk across the floor to produce a sound. We don’t say “why” because we are interested in the sound of the word “why”. However, sometimes we are interested in the sound. Knocking two stones together creates a third phenomenon. The sound may be simple, but the knocking of the stones could make us sharpen our senses, listen and become more imaginative. |

| bio |
Pär Frid, born 1977 in Sweden works with sound in various ways, mainly in his role as composer and sound artist. He studied from 2002 on for his Masters (composition) at Gothenburg University School of Music and Musicology and at Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Paris. He will finish his post-master studies at the world famous institute IRCAM in Paris. Inspiring for his work are personalities such as Ole Lützow-Holm, Frédéric Durieux, Ivo Nilsson, Jan-W Morthenson and Brian Ferneyhough. The Norwegian Radio Orchestra, the Irish contrabass virtuoso Barry GuyJust and Ensemble Intercontemporain are among the musicians and ensembles he worked together with. Together with the Zürich-based lap-top collective Spezialmaterial, Pär is going to release his first two albums based on remixes of the piece ”In Between” in December 2004. |
