bio German Pianist Jens Barnieck just won a grant for the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris for the season 2003/2004, given by the German Government. 
He has performed in major concert halls and venues in Europe and the US, including the Konzerthaus Berlin (Kurt Weill-Fest); the Ravello Festival, Italy; the Almeida Festival, London; Heidelberger Klavierwoche; European Festival Week, Passau (Germany); North American New Music Festival, Buffalo; Steinway Hall, New York City; Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music; etc.
As vocal accompanist, he has appeared at Lincoln Center´s Bruno Walter Auditorium in New York City with British soprano Sarah Leonard, at the Bratislava Music Fesitval with the American tenor Gary Burgess, at the German radio station SWR and in Mainz, Germany with American baritone Kurt Ollmann. With the German mezzo-soprano Julia Oesch, he founded the duo "Songways", who won international competitions and critical acclaim. 
In 1995, Jens Barnieck was artistic director of a Paul Hindemith centennial festival at the university in Buffalo. In 1997, 1999 and 2002, he was artistic director of the festival ARTlantische Tage in Rheinland-Pfalz, Germany. This festival is hosted by the Atlantic Academy and features American music, visual art and film. 
Jens has premiered and given first performances of composers such as David Del Tredici, Kevin Volans, Ricky Ian Gordon, Ian Krouse and others. Radio recordings have been made for WNED-FM Buffalo; SWR, Germany; RAI, Italy. Television broadcasts by NBC, channel 2; Deutsche Welle, Cologne; Suedwest-RP, Kaiserslautern and the national television company of the Slovak Republic. 
Jens Barnieck was born in Wiesbaden, Germany and studied at the Hochschule für Musik, Detmold with Prof. Gregor Weichert. He further studied at the State University of New York at Buffalo with the late Prof. Dr. Yvar Mikhashoff. From the Univerity at Buffalo, he graduated with a Master in Musical Performance cum laude.
